Information
Area XV Multi-County Housing Agency Difference between programs The Public Housing Program and Area 15 Apartments Program units are OWNED and managed by Area XV Multi-County Housing Agency. Area XV MCHA owns a total of 86 Public Housing units in 7 counties, indicated with an * following the name of the county at the left. Most of the units are duplexes, some are single family homes. There are two 4 unit buildings in What Cheer designated as elderly/handicapped. Area 15 Apartments Program has 28 two bedroom shared housing apartments designated for disabled families. Section 8 Vouchers are used by voucher holders to receive rental assistance on a unit owned by a private landlord. Once an applicant receives a voucher, it can be used anywhere in our jurisdiction, all 11 counties listed at the left. Tenant’s portion of rent is based on total family income. Cities NOT covered Within the city limits of Albia, Centerville, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa.
Each town has a waiting list. The length of the waiting list depends on the town, bedroom size and vacancy.
Section 8 Voucher Waiting List Waiting list is arranged by date and time
of application. Currently there over 400 applicant families on the waiting
list. Wait time is approximately 8 to 12 months. |
